Online Checklist

1. TECH:

a) Device:

A computer is ideal. Why? Because you can only adjust Zoom audio settings on a computer. Tablets and smart phones are OK if that's all you can manage!

b) Audio settings:

If we need to do an online lesson on Zoom, there are some audio settings that will make things go so much more smoothly.

Follow this YouTube video I made to help you. It's short:How to adjust your Zoom settings for better audio in music lessons

c) Internet: Try to avoid other people in the household streaming content online during lessons if possible, unless your bandwidth can take it. Zoom uses a LOT of bandwidth when audio settings are set to optimal levels.

2. SET UP:

Side view is best (see picture below!)

As much keyboard length as possible in picture
Careful of bright lights facing into camera or bright windows (close curtains)
No head set or headphones necessary

No changes of camera angle necessary after initial set up
Set laptop on tall stool or chair with books for optimal height
As quiet a space as possible (remind your family to respect your space)

3. SUPPLIES:

a) Pencils

b) Eraser (that doesn't leave
streaks on music)

c) Sticky notes of various sizes

d) 2-3 felt markers
